Rap Meets Punk: ‘Mic Check 1234!’

Up-and-coming remix artist, producer, and DJ Max Tannone has unleashed an incredible mashup album, Mic Check 1234!, pairing rap and punk heavyweights together. Tannone attracted media attention for his album Jaydiohead (a mashup of Jay-Z and Radiohead), with Jay-Z even admitting that “there are 3 or 4 real gems on Jaydiohead.” Tannone says of his new album, “Great rap and great punk both make you want to affect change, to rebel against the status quo, or to simply just get up and move.” It’s more than worth checking out, in our opinion, and is possibly the best thing since Run DMC and Aerosmith walked this way more than 25 years ago.
