Mario Kite Lights Up the Night

Mark Rober is, by his own account, a “spaceship engineer. Purveyor of random ideas. Lawn bowler… in reverse order.” It’s probably because of some diabolical combination of the three that he was able to come up with a 250 square foot, glowing, Super Mario night-kite. The video is fascinating, but the implications of what can be done with such a great idea are even more so. Rober knows he’s got a great idea, and gives examples of what else you could do with some balloons, string, LED lights, and helium. Hopefully, our future nights will light up with more than the moon and stars, including brilliant balloon designs everywhere.
