Del Popolo Pizza’s Amazing Food Truck

Food trucks have finally begun getting their due as more than just a quick bite to grab at a bar or work site. While most everyone has a favorite, and the menus are as diverse as the customers, we haven’t seen one quite like the truck Del Popolo runs. Taking a 20-foot-long, transatlantic shipping container, fitting it onto a truck, and outfitting it with a kitchen is only the beginning of what makes it unique. The truck also has giant glass doors on the side which, while affording a view of the kitchen, open up to expose an Italian-made, wood-fired oven. Offering three, unique pizzas, Del Popolo says it’s “committed to creating rustic Neapolitan-inspired pizza using ingredients sourced from small, generational producers.” The only bummer for us is that they’re in San Francisco, but it is an additional reason to visit the city, and maybe the only reason, if you’re a big enough pizza fan.
